The calculation
How this estimate works
The tool counts forward from your last period to your next one, then subtracts your luteal phase length to place ovulation. Everything from day one up to the day before that date is the follicular phase.
Your period length does not change where the phase ends. It only marks how much of the phase overlaps with bleeding, shown as the darker section of the bar.
Good to know
Leave room for real life
Because this phase absorbs most of the variation in a cycle, its length changes month to month in a way the luteal phase does not. A single long follicular phase is not a finding. Several in a row is a pattern worth writing down.
Advice to eat or train differently by phase is popular and thinly evidenced. Nothing here tells you to change your diet on a date. Use the dates for context, not instructions.
